Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai NHIS Registers and Renews 21,277 Clients; NHIA Supports Free Registration Drive Under Mahama’s Health Initiative

The National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) in the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Municipality has successfully registered and renewed a total of 21,277 clients, as part of ongoing efforts to expand healthcare access in the area.

This was disclosed to the media by the Municipal NHIS Officer, Mr. Anthony Kwarteng, who highlighted the significant progress made under the National Health Insurance Authority’s (NHIA) free registration drive, supported by former President John Dramani Mahama’s health initiative.

According to Mr. Kwarteng, the initiative is aimed at reducing financial barriers to healthcare and ensuring that more residents, particularly the vulnerable, have active health insurance coverage to access medical services when needed.

He emphasized that the NHIS continues to function effectively and urged the public to disregard claims that the scheme is not working. “People should stop saying that NHIS is not working. When you visit the hospital with an active card, you will receive the needed care,” he stated.

Mr. Kwarteng further encouraged residents who are yet to register or renew their membership to take advantage of the ongoing exercise, stressing that active enrollment is key to enjoying the full benefits of the scheme.

He also called on community leaders, stakeholders, and the general public to support the initiative by spreading awareness and encouraging participation, especially among those in remote and underserved communities.

The Municipal NHIS office reaffirmed its commitment to improving service delivery and ensuring that quality healthcare remains accessible and affordable to all residents within the municipality.
