Lawyer Prince John Evans Escobar-Donkor has officially declared his intention to contest for the position of Constituency Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Constituency, with a strong promise to promote unity, strengthen grassroots participation, and improve party organization.
Speaking in an interview with the media, Lawyer Escobar-Donkor stated that his ambition is rooted in service to the party and not personal interest. According to him, the strength and success of every political party depend largely on its grassroots members, branch executives, polling station officers, communicators, and loyal supporters who continuously dedicate their time and resources to the growth of the party.
He emphasized that many grassroots members of the NDC have sacrificed immensely over the years and therefore deserve leadership that is accessible, transparent, and committed to their welfare and active involvement in party affairs.
“I am contesting because I believe the grassroots deserve proper representation, respect, and coordination. Leadership must be about sacrifice and service to the people, not personal gains. My vision is to help strengthen the party, restore unity, and ensure that every member feels valued and included,” he stated.
Lawyer Escobar-Donkor also expressed concern over the growing divisions within the constituency following the NDC’s parliamentary victory in the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Constituency. He noted that internal misunderstandings and factionalism have gradually affected the unity and progress of the party, stressing that the situation must be addressed to safeguard the future of the NDC in the area.
According to him, the party can only maintain its strength and secure future electoral victories when members put aside their differences and work together toward a common goal.
“There is the urgent need for reconciliation and unity within the constituency. We are all members of one political family under the umbrella of the NDC, and we must not allow division to weaken the party. I am ready to work with everyone — the youth, women groups, branch executives, polling station executives, opinion leaders, and former executives — to rebuild trust, unity, and togetherness within the constituency,” he added.
The aspiring Constituency Secretary further outlined some of his key priorities, which include strengthening communication between constituency executives and branch members, improving internal party coordination, promoting discipline, and ensuring transparency in decision-making processes.
He explained that effective communication and inclusiveness would help rebuild confidence among party members and encourage active participation from all levels of the party structure.
Touching on youth development, Lawyer Escobar-Donkor described young people as the backbone of the NDC’s future and pledged to support initiatives that would empower the youth through political education, leadership development, and active involvement in party activities.
He also stressed the need to give women greater recognition and opportunities within the party, noting that women have consistently played a critical role in the success and growth of the NDC over the years.
“I strongly believe women must be given the needed encouragement and opportunities to contribute meaningfully to decision-making and party development. Their contribution to the NDC cannot be overlooked,” he stressed.
Lawyer Escobar-Donkor further called on all party members in the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Constituency to remain calm, focused, and united as the party prepares for future political activities and internal elections.
He advised supporters to avoid acts and comments capable of creating confusion, tension, or division within the party, adding that unity remains the only path toward sustained victory and progress.
“As members of the NDC, we all have a collective responsibility to protect the image, unity, and future of the party. The progress of the constituency depends on our ability to work together in peace, mutual respect, and unity of purpose,” he noted.
His announcement has already generated discussions among party faithful and political observers within the constituency, with many grassroots supporters expressing confidence in his vision of reconciliation, inclusiveness, and effective grassroots mobilization.
Political analysts and party supporters are expected to closely monitor developments in the race for the Constituency Secretary position as internal party activities ahead of the elections continue to gather momentum in the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Constituency.
