The Ahafo Regional Minister, Hon. (Mrs.) Charity Gardiner, has described the Minister for Food and Agriculture and Member of Parliament for the Asunafo South Constituency, , as an exceptional public servant whose commitment to development continues to distinguish him among Members of Parliament and Ministers in Ghana.
Hon. Charity Gardiner made the remarks during the launch of the Asunafo South District Assembly's Free Primary Healthcare Programme, where Hon. Eric Opoku donated six brand-new pickup vehicles to selected health facilities within the district to improve healthcare delivery.
According to the Regional Minister, Hon. Eric Opoku has consistently demonstrated outstanding leadership and an unwavering commitment to the welfare of the people of Asunafo South through his numerous development initiatives.
She noted that the donation of the six pickup vehicles to the District Health Directorate and health facilities is a clear indication that the Asunafo South MP places the health and well-being of his constituents at the centre of his development agenda.
"This is not something you see every day. Hon. Eric Opoku has shown that he genuinely has the people of Asunafo South at heart. His decision to provide these vehicles to support healthcare delivery speaks volumes about his commitment to improving the lives of his constituents," she stated.
Hon. Charity Gardiner commended the Minister for complementing government's efforts to strengthen the healthcare system by providing the logistics needed to improve service delivery, especially under the Free Primary Healthcare Programme.
She observed that access to reliable transportation is critical to the work of health professionals, particularly in rural communities where outreach services, emergency response, disease surveillance, maternal and child healthcare, and supervision of health facilities depend heavily on the availability of vehicles.
The Regional Minister further praised Hon. Eric Opoku for championing several development projects across the constituency, including investments in healthcare, education, agriculture, and infrastructure, describing his leadership style as one that prioritizes the needs of the people.
She encouraged residents of Asunafo South to continue supporting initiatives that promote development and improve living standards across the constituency.
The presentation of the six brand-new pickup vehicles formed one of the highlights of the launch of the Asunafo South District Assembly's Free Primary Healthcare Programme and was widely applauded by health workers, traditional leaders, opinion leaders, and residents.
The vehicles are expected to improve healthcare delivery by enhancing the mobility of health personnel, supporting emergency medical services, facilitating community outreach programmes, and strengthening the overall operations of health facilities throughout the Asunafo South District.
