Thieves Break into Bibiani Births and Deaths Registry, Steal Valuable Equipment

BIBIANI, Western North Region – The Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Municipal Births and Deaths Registry has been temporarily rendered inoperative after unidentified thieves broke into the office and stole several valuable items.

The burglary, which was discovered on the morning of Wednesday, has disrupted the operations of the registry, affecting the delivery of essential services to the public.

According to the Municipal Births and Deaths Registrar, Mr. Peter Narh, the stolen items include an air conditioner, a system unit, a computer monitor, and a router, all of which are essential for the office's daily operations.

Speaking to the media, Mr. Narh explained that he was alerted to the incident by staff members of the nearby National Identification Authority (NIA) office when they reported for work. Upon arriving at the scene, he discovered that the thieves had gained access to the office through a rear window before making away with the equipment.

He said the incident has since been reported to the Bibiani Police, who have commenced investigations to identify and arrest the perpetrators. He expressed confidence that the police would do everything possible to recover the stolen items and bring those responsible to justice.

Mr. Narh appealed to members of the public to remain vigilant and assist with the ongoing investigations. He urged anyone who comes across the stolen equipment, which is boldly labelled "Births and Deaths, Western Region," to immediately report the matter to the nearest police station or the Bibiani Births and Deaths Registry.

He noted that the theft has significantly affected the office's operations, making it difficult to provide timely registration and certification services to residents of the municipality.

The Municipal Births and Deaths Registrar further called on the government, the Births and Deaths Registry headquarters, and other stakeholders to urgently support the office by replacing the stolen equipment to enable staff to resume full operations and continue delivering essential public services.

Police investigations into the incident are ongoing.
