Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai is the second most affected area with reported Mpox cases in the Western North Region

The Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Municipal Disease Control Office, under the Municipal Health Directorate, has reported twelve confirmed cases of the Mpox virus.

In an interview with Bibianinews.com, the Municipal Disease Control Officer, Doris Verome, expressed concern over the rapid spread of the virus, noting that affected individuals are reluctant to seek medical treatment.

Of the thirty-three suspected cases, 12 tested positive, making Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai the second most affected area in the Western North Region after the Aowin District. Many people perceive Mpox as a common disease requiring little attention; it's similar to chickenpox, though there are slight differences.

Doris Verome explained that Mpox is contagious, stating, "When a person is affected, it can be transmitted from person to person." It can also spread through direct contact with infected animals or humans; "we are all at high risk."

Doris Verome outlined the measures her team is implementing to control the spread of the virus. She noted that among the four sub-districts, only Anhwiaso has no reported Mpox cases, urging everyone to remain vigilant as the virus continues to spread.
