ABOABO RESIDENTS PROTEST AGAINST RAIN FOREST BUILDER OVER FARM LAND ENCROACHMENT

Residents of Aboabo in the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Municipality of Ghana’s Western North Region have staged a protest against Rain Forest Builder, urging the company to stop encroaching on their farmlands.

Aboabo, a farming community in the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Municipality, relies heavily on agriculture. The community is now in conflict with Rain Forest Builder, a company tasked with tree planting in the area. Residents claim the company is taking over farmlands allocated to them by the Bibiani Forestry Commission for both tree planting and crop cultivation.

Speaking to the protesters after the demonstration, they voiced their concerns about the company’s actions, highlighting the threat to their livelihoods.

The Aboabo chief, Nana Kofi Kobri II, also appealed to Ogyeahoho Nana Yaw Gyebi II, the Municipal Chief Executive, the local Member of Parliament, and the Bibiani Forestry Commission to intervene and halt the company’s encroachment on their designated forest compartment.
