NPP Suspends Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Electoral Area Executives Committee Elections

The Western North Regional Executive Committee of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced the immediate suspension of the Electoral Area Executives Committee elections in the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Constituency.

According to an official statement dated June 9, 2026, the decision follows reports of alleged interference, intimidation, and unauthorized procedures surrounding the electoral process within the constituency.

The Regional Executive Committee said it had deliberated extensively on the concerns raised and, in the interest of fairness, justice, and safeguarding the integrity of the party's internal democratic processes, resolved to halt the elections with immediate effect.

The statement indicated that the suspension will remain in force until further notice. A new date for the elections is expected to be announced after a thorough review of the situation by the national leadership of the party.

The Regional Secretariat has therefore appealed to all stakeholders, aspirants, and party members to remain calm and await further directives.

The statement was signed by the Western North Regional Chairman, Hon. Benjamin Armah, and copied to the General Secretary of the NPP in Accra, the Regional Steering Committee, the Constituency Executive Committee, all aspirants in the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Constituency, and the Regional Representative for the constituency.

The development comes amid growing concerns over the conduct of internal party elections, with the regional leadership emphasizing its commitment to transparency and due process.
