Youth across the country have been strongly encouraged to venture into agriculture as a viable, profitable, and sustainable livelihood capable of transforming lives and strengthening the national economy.

The call was made by the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Municipal Overall Best Farmer for 2025, Mr. Gyasi New Love, during a thanksgiving service held in his honour at the Bibiani Church of Christ in the Western North Region.

Addressing the congregation, Mr. Gyasi New Love emphasized that agriculture remains the backbone of Ghana’s economy and continues to provide vast opportunities for employment, wealth creation, and national development.

He noted that the sector holds immense potential for the youth, especially at a time when unemployment remains a major challenge across the country.

According to him, farming should no longer be viewed as a last option for school dropouts or the unemployed, but rather as a respectable and lucrative business venture capable of generating steady income, ensuring food security, and providing long-term economic stability for individuals and families.

Mr. Gyasi New Love further shared his personal journey in agriculture, attributing his success to hard work, discipline, patience, and the adoption of modern and improved farming practices.

He encouraged young people to develop interest in agriculture and to be innovative, business-minded, and open to learning new techniques that can enhance productivity and profitability.

He also urged the youth to take advantage of the various government and private sector interventions within the agricultural sector, including training programmes, extension services, access to improved seedlings, and financial support schemes aimed at boosting youth participation in farming.

In a related message, the Preacher of the Bibiani Church of Christ, Preacher Francis Kwadjo Mensah, advised the general public to approach every task they undertake with seriousness, dedication, and integrity.

He stressed that success in life is built on diligence, discipline, and faithfulness, noting that these values are essential in every profession, including agriculture.

Preacher Mensah congratulated Mr. Gyasi New Love on his remarkable achievements, having emerged as the Western North Regional Best Cocoa Farmer and the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Municipal Overall Best Farmer for 2025.

He described the feat as a clear testimony to the rewards of hard work, perseverance, and commitment, adding that Mr. Gyasi New Love’s story should inspire both the youth and the general public to remain focused and determined in their chosen fields.

The thanksgiving service, which attracted church members, farmers, community leaders, and well-wishers, was marked by prayers, songs of praise, and words of encouragement, as participants celebrated the success of one of their own and reflected on the importance of agriculture in national development.
