Residents of Akurakan in the Bassengeley Electoral Area, located in the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Municipality, have received a major boost in access to clean and safe drinking water following the successful completion and handover of a borehole project by the Assembly Member, Mr. Solomon Nkansah.

The initiative, which seeks to address persistent water challenges in the community, was officially handed over during a brief but significant ceremony attended by residents, local leaders, and other stakeholders.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Nkansah noted that the project forms part of his key campaign promises to improve living conditions within the electoral area. He emphasized that access to potable water is a basic necessity and reaffirmed his commitment to championing development-oriented projects.

“This borehole is not just a project, but a fulfillment of a promise I made to the people of Akurakan. Water is life, and I am committed to improving the health and well-being of my constituents,” he stated.

Former Assembly Member for the Bassengeley Electoral Area, Mr. Collins Berchire, also commended the initiative, describing it as both timely and impactful. He urged residents to take ownership of the facility by maintaining it properly to ensure its long-term sustainability.

“I encourage the people of Akurakan to take good care of this borehole. Let us keep the surroundings clean at all times so it can serve us for many years,” he advised.

Residents of Akurakan expressed overwhelming joy and appreciation for the intervention, highlighting the difficulties they previously faced in accessing clean water. Many described the project as life-changing, noting that it would significantly reduce the burden of traveling long distances in search of water.

“We have suffered for a long time before getting this borehole. Water is life, and today we feel relieved. We are very grateful to the Assembly Member for this support,” some residents shared.

The provision of the borehole is expected to improve sanitation, enhance public health, and ease daily life for households in the community, marking a significant step toward development in the Bassengeley Electoral Area of the Western North Region.
