Western North: NDC Regional Chairman Slams EC Over BVR Theft, Call On Peace Council For Free, Fair And Transparent Elections

The Western North Regional Chairman for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Micheal Aidoo (Big Aidoo) has called on Peace Council, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), Stakeholders and the leadership of the country to add their voice to an immediate independent investigation and unbiased audit to cover the circumstances of the theft of the missing Biometric Voter Registration (BVR) kits from the Electoral Commission’s headquarters.

The NDC regional chairman’s argument is that without a thorough examination of this issue, the 2024 elections cannot be considered free, fair, and transparent. This demand comes in response to the recent statement by the Electoral Commission (EC) interdiction of three officials over the alleged theft of BVRs.

In an interview with Bibianinews.com, Mr Michael Aidoo (Big Aidoo), has emphasized on the need for the leadership in the country, most especially the Peace Council, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and other stakeholders to add their voices and tell the EC the hard truth to allow free, fair and transparent elections on December 7 elections, since the country doesn’t want any violence in 2024 general elections.

“The country called Ghana does not belong to one person, it is for us all, and we need to protect the peace we have enjoyed so far, but what president Akufo Addo and his NPP people are doing shows that, they don’t want to hand power when they lose, so leadership must speak to avert any election violence.” He added.

Mr. Michael Aidoo, alleged that the BVR machine was stolen to marred the upcoming voter registration exercise, but it will never work, since the party is vigilant and will not condone any manipulations, and will make sure that Ghanaians will vote for Mr. John Dramani Mahama to come and correct the wrongs committed by this current government and will reduce fuel price.
