Mrs. Margaret Asamoah Calls for Stronger Maintenance Culture as Prince Mark Group Hands Over Teachers’ Bungalows

Mrs. Margaret Asamoah, Chief Executive Officer of the Prince Mark Group of Companies, has appealed to Ghanaians to rekindle the culture of maintenance to protect public and private infrastructure and ensure that development projects stand the test of time.

She made the call during the official handing-over and dedication of newly constructed teachers’ accommodation at Sefwi Anhwiaso Queens Girls Senior High School in the Western North Region.

The teachers’ accommodation, comprising four two-bedroom apartment units, was fully financed by Elder Prince Asamoah and his wife, Mrs. Margaret Asamoah, as part of their contribution towards improving the welfare of teachers and supporting quality education at the school.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mrs. Asamoah stressed that constructing infrastructure was only the beginning, and that proper maintenance was equally important to preserve such investments.

She urged school authorities, students, teachers and members of the community to take ownership of the facility and ensure that it is properly maintained.

According to her, the maintenance of infrastructure should become a shared responsibility, particularly when individuals and organisations invest their resources in community development.

Mrs. Asamoah further encouraged Ghanaians to develop a positive attitude towards maintaining public facilities, explaining that proper maintenance could reduce the cost of frequent reconstruction and ensure that facilities continue to serve their intended purpose for many years.

She said the decision by the Asamoah family to support the school was motivated by their desire to contribute to the development of education and improve the living conditions of teachers.

She also encouraged other individuals, businesses and organisations with the capacity to identify developmental needs in their communities and support them.

The President of the National House of Chiefs and Omanhene of the Sefwi Anhwiaso Traditional Area, Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II, who is also the founder of Sefwi Anhwiaso Queens Girls SHS, expressed his profound appreciation to Elder Prince Asamoah and Mrs. Margaret Asamoah for the gesture.

He described the construction and donation of the teachers’ accommodation as a significant contribution to the development of the school and the welfare of its teaching staff.

Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II called on other individuals, philanthropists, businesses and organisations to emulate the Asamoah family by supporting educational institutions and other community development initiatives.

He said the development of quality education should not be left solely to government, stressing that traditional authorities, private individuals and corporate organisations all have important roles to play.

The Omanhene also appealed to the school and the community to ensure that the newly constructed apartments are properly maintained so that they can continue to benefit teachers and the school for generations.

Boost for teachers’ welfar

The new accommodation is expected to ease some of the challenges teachers face in securing suitable accommodation and could also enable more teachers to stay closer to the school.

School authorities believe the facility will improve teacher welfare while enhancing supervision, discipline and student support.

The handing-over ceremony brought together traditional leaders, school authorities, teachers, students, community members and other stakeholders, who commended the Asamoah family for their contribution.

The project stands as an example of how private individuals and businesses can complement government efforts in providing educational infrastructure and improving conditions for teachers and students.

Stakeholders at the event subsequently urged other well-meaning Ghanaians to support Sefwi Anhwiaso Queens Girls SHS as the school continues to seek additional infrastructure and resources to enhance teaching and learning.
