President Mahama hopes to improve the quality of education in Ghana and make the Free SHS program more effective and sustainable - Mr Agyemang


The Western North Regional Free Senior High School coordinator, Mr. Simon Kwabena Agyemang, has embarked on a tour of the region to assess student vacancies and identify challenges facing schools.

This initiative aims to mitigate corruption and enhance quality in secondary education.

According to Mr. Agyemang, authorities suspect that some school heads admit more students than their facilities can accommodate, leading to overcrowding.The Free SHS Secretariat is also working to eliminate the double track system in secondary schools.

During the tour, Mr. Agyemang emphasized that they will seize the opportunity to investigate challenges students face regarding facilities, ensuring students have a conducive learning environment. By undertaking this assessment, the Western North Regional Free Senior High School coordinator hopes to address pressing issues and improve the overall quality of education in the region.

President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed his commitment to improving the Free Senior High School program in Ghana, believing education is the cornerstone of national progress. He has pledged to address challenges facing the program, including infrastructure deficits, overcrowding, and quality delivery, to make it more effective and sustainable.

Ensure long-term viability and success of the program by allocating dedicated funds, such as uncapping the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund).

Decentralize Food Procurement

Ensure more efficient management and provide better support to students.

Equip students with necessary skills and enhance Ghana's competitiveness in the global economy.
