In his request to ensure greener environment, the General Manager for Mensin Gold Bibiani Limited Mr Samuel Kwasi Takyi has led a delegation from the mining company to donate five hundred and fifty seedlings to the Bibiani District Forest Services Division to mark this years Green Ghana Day on the theme “Greening Today for Greener Tomorrow.”

Delivering his speech during the ceremonial tree planting at the Bibiani Government Hospital, Mr Takyi explained that they donated 15000 tree seedlings,  450 fruits seedlings, 100 coconut seedlings, 20 watering-can and 10 wheelbarrow to support the government’s Green Ghana project meant to restore the natural vegetation.

The Green Ghana Day initiative was introduced by the government in 2021, focusing on aggressive afforestation and reforestation programmes to restore the country’s degraded forest cover.

He said the mine activity in a way destroys trees so they have measures in line with their work to do reclamation and tree planting in order to restore the land to its previous state after mining, this according to Mr Samuel Takyi compels them to support every tree planting project so they were happy when the President introduced Green Ghana Day Celebration.

Mr Takyi said the Mensin Gold Bibiani Limited would continue to support the government to roll out initiatives that would ensure the restoration of the depleted lands and forests.

“The support today will not only be a flash in the pan. We will continue to support the government’s agenda to protect the environment because the government’s vision is not different from what the Mensin Gold Bibiani Limited seeks to achieve,” he said.

He urged Ghanaians to embrace the Green Ghana concept by planting more trees to combat climate change and restore ecosystems.
