"I don't know why people are putting the blame on me about the ongoing galamsey in Sefwi Achianchen." He emphasized that he was actually putting measures in place to stop galamsey, so it's puzzling why he would be implicated.

"I will always defend myself," Hon. Kwarteng stated. "I recall last year when people tried to engage in galamsey in our area, we did everything to stop it." He continued, "If they're mentioning my name as part of those engaging in galamsey, I won't blame them, but I swear to God that I don't know anything about it."

According to him, he hasn't engaged with anyone involved in galamsey and has no idea how the machines got to the site. "I'm doing my best to prove myself," he added. He also urged everyone to help him clear his name, emphasizing that it's misinformation and that they should all work together to fight galamsey.
