The Minister for Food and Agriculture and Member of Parliament for the Asunafo South Constituency, , has praised the growing spirit of unity and peaceful coexistence among the youth of Sankore, saying the town has undergone a significant transformation from its previous image of political division.

Speaking during the presentation of six brand-new pickup vehicles to the Asunafo South District Health Directorate at the launch of the Asunafo South District Assembly's Free Primary Healthcare Programme, Hon. Eric Opoku said the long-held perception that the youth of Sankore were radical because of partisan politics has changed considerably.

According to him, the current atmosphere of peace and cooperation among young people in the township is encouraging and reflects a collective commitment to the development of the community.

The Minister noted that one of the clearest signs of this growing unity was when youth believed to support both the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) came together during a public demonstration concerning their concerns about police conduct.

He said the incident demonstrated that, despite political differences, the youth were capable of standing together on issues they considered important to their community.

Hon. Eric Opoku stressed that the development should not be viewed through a partisan lens but rather as evidence that peace and mutual understanding are taking root in Sankore.

"What we are witnessing today is the kind of unity and peace we have all been praying for. It is encouraging to see young people putting the interest of their community first and living together peacefully despite their different political affiliations," he said.

The Asunafo South MP emphasized that sustainable development can only be achieved in an atmosphere of peace and stability, adding that investors, businesses, and government development projects thrive in communities where people coexist peacefully.

He therefore urged the youth to continue rejecting violence, political intolerance, and acts capable of disrupting the peace of the area.

Hon. Eric Opoku further assured the youth of his unwavering commitment to supporting those who are determined to improve their lives through education, skills training, entrepreneurship, agriculture, and other productive ventures.

He said his office remains open to young people who are prepared to work hard and contribute positively to the development of the constituency.

"I am always ready to support any young person who is genuinely determined to build a better future. My desire is to see our youth succeed and become responsible citizens who will contribute to the development of Asunafo South," he stated.

The Minister concluded by expressing satisfaction with the prevailing peace in Sankore, describing the town as calm and united. He called on residents, traditional authorities, religious leaders, and political actors to continue working together to preserve the peace and create an environment that promotes development and prosperity for all.
