Government urged putting skills at the top of its agenda

Nana Osei Tutu Ababio, the Country Director for Bronnimann And Friends Foundation, has called on government to commit more resources to On-the-Job Training (OJT) Institutions as a means of addressing the growing graduate unemployment rate in the country.

He said it was imperative to empower Ghanaian youth with practical skills to create employment not only for themselves but for others to reduce the pressure on the government for public employment.

He said this will help to rebuild confidence in the economy and break the cycle of uncertainty.

He added, “Employers can bring the innovation, investment and jobs for a new era of inclusive growth. The biggest issues of our times, including reskilling the workforce for new technologies, can only be delivered through a real partnership between government and business.

Speaking with Hamza Mohammed, Nana Osei Tutu Ababio added: “Our big focus is on talent . Bronnimann And Friends Foundation produce innovation strategies to produce critical thinkers capable of creating jobs after graduation rather than everyone joining the queue of job seekers in the public sector.

He therefore encourage political leaders to support an open and well-funded On-the-job (OJT) training sector that can foster the iconic global tech companies of the future.
