Residents of Ashiresu came together for a massive clean-up exercise aimed at improving sanitation and promoting a healthier environment in the community.

The exercise saw the active participation of chiefs, opinion leaders, youth groups, and residents, who cleaned streets, drains, and public spaces.

Speaking at the event, the Chief of Ashiresu, Nana Ahenkrosei Amaniampong, commended residents for their commitment to communal development.
He emphasized the importance of maintaining a clean environment, noting that sanitation is a shared responsibility.

Nana Ahenkrosei urged residents to make cleanliness a daily habit and not limit such efforts to organized exercises alone. He also called on the youth to take the lead in protecting the community from filth-related diseases.

On his part, the Assembly Member for the Ashiresu Electoral Area, Mr. Yussif Sulleyman, expressed his appreciation to residents for turning out in their numbers.

He described the exercise as a clear demonstration of unity and community spirit. Mr. Sulleyman assured residents of his continued support for sanitation initiatives and appealed to stakeholders and authorities to provide the necessary logistics to sustain such exercises. He further encouraged residents to desist from the indiscriminate dumping of refuse.

Mr. Danies Baning, Secretary to the Organizing Committee, said the clean-up exercise forms part of a broader plan to make Ashiresu one of the cleanest communities in the area.

According to him, the committee intends to organize similar activities regularly and intensify public education on proper waste management.

He thanked all volunteers, sponsors, and community leaders whose contributions ensured the success of the exercise.

The clean-up exercise ended with a call on residents to take collective responsibility for maintaining the cleanliness of Ashiresu and to support future community-led development initiatives.
