Bibiani-based businessman and a citizen of Sefwi Nkatieso near Sefwi Awaso in the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Municipality of the Western North Region, Mr Patrick Mensah popularly known as PM has single-handedly constructed Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) worth 300k facility for his community.

Inaugurating the facility, the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Hon Paul Andoh commended PM for his sense of patriotism and said the best compliment the people could pay to him is to utilize the facility judiciously to enhance their health status.

Hon Paul Andoh urged staff who have been posted to man the facility to show commitment and dedication to work by visiting the communities in order to establish friendly relations and educate them on health-related issues, regenerative health and environmental hygiene, among others.

Nana Kwadwo Bonya III, the Atepimhene of Sefwi Anhwiaso Traditional Area on behalf of the National House of Chief’s President delivering his speech, thanked PM for such a facility.

“A lot of investment has gone into this project and we need to prevent the equipment against damages,” he said.

He called on other natives of the Community in the cities who are blessed and should also emulate what PM has done.

The Municipal Director of Health Services, Dr. Oheneba Oppong Darko described the CHPS concept as one of the best strategies being implemented by the Ghana Health Service to send quality health services to the doorsteps of the people in the various communities.

He added that it is among the best CHPS within the Municipality and uses the opportunity to introduce midwife and nurses to be work there.

“Once PM has a hand over to the government, it means that when you come for any services without a NHIS card, you will pay money. “Never think that a native of this community has built the facility for the government,” he added.

Mr. Patrick Mensah, on his part, said that his purpose as a young, vibrant entrepreneur was to give back to his community, fulfilling his vision since being born and bred in the community. “I’m doing this to fulfill my vision of growing up in this community,” he stated.

He stressed that he’s been receiving calls to support serious injured victims in the community, prompting the construction of the health facility to relieve the community’s burdens.

He also added that saving life has become a passion for him, not to say he has gotten excessive, but to care for the community.

He therefore called on the Sefwi Nkatieso residents to leave peacefully with staffs who will work there and encourage them to always practice maintenance culture.
