Bibiani police arrest taxi driver for knocking down pedestrian

Police in Bibiani have arrested a 35-year-old Mathew Kusi for knocking down a pedestrian on Bibiani-Sefwi Bekwai highways.

Bibianinews.com reporters proceeded to the scene of the accident and found an Opel Astra taxi cab with registration number CR 550 -10 in front of Gyamprah wearhouse parked by the roadside.

Spot investigations revealed that the suspected driver was driving the said vehicle with passengers on board from Bibiani towards Bekwai direction and on reaching a section of the road at a sport in front of Gyampah wearhouse he knocked down a pedestrian Belinda Adjei age 13, who was crossing the road from the near side to the off side of the vehicle.

She endured severe injuries and promptly transported to Bibiani Government Hospital for medical attention, but her life was declared over upon arrival.

The body deposited at the same hospital mortuary for preservation pending autopsy.

The vehicle involved in the accident got towed to the charge office for testing, while the driver suspected of being involved was held in police custody.
