The Member of Parliament for Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Constituency, Bright Asamoah Brefo, has taken another major step toward improving security in the area with the donation of a brand-new Nissan Navara pickup vehicle to the Bibiani Divisional Police Command.
The intervention is part of the MP’s ongoing efforts to support key state institutions and ensure that the security services are adequately equipped to protect lives and property. It also fulfills a commitment he made to provide logistical support to the police, recognizing the important role they play in maintaining peace and stability within the constituency.
The presentation ceremony, held in Bibiani, brought together a cross-section of stakeholders, including traditional authorities, senior police officers, assembly members, party executives, and residents. The event highlighted the growing collaboration between political leadership, traditional rulers, and security agencies in promoting development and safeguarding the community.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Bright Asamoah Brefo emphasized that security remains a top priority for his office. He noted that no meaningful development can take place in an environment where people feel unsafe. According to him, investing in the police service is a direct investment in the safety, growth, and prosperity of the constituency.
He pointed out that the lack of adequate logistics has long been a challenge for many police commands across the country, affecting their ability to respond swiftly to incidents. He therefore expressed optimism that the addition of the new pickup would significantly enhance mobility, improve visibility of police presence, and serve as a strong deterrent to criminal activities.
The MP further assured constituents that the donation would not be a one-time intervention. He pledged to continue advocating for and supporting initiatives that will strengthen institutions, empower communities, and improve the overall quality of life in the constituency.
Nana Kwesi Ator-Ware II, Chief of Bassengeley, who represented Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II, lauded the MP for what he described as a bold and responsible step. He commended Hon. Brefo for honoring his promise and demonstrating leadership that responds to the real needs of the people.
He stressed that traditional authorities remain committed to partnering with government and security agencies to ensure peace in the area. However, he cautioned that providing logistics alone is not enough, urging the police to cultivate a strong maintenance culture to safeguard the vehicle. According to him, proper maintenance will ensure that the pickup remains operational for a long period and continues to benefit the entire constituency.
Receiving the keys on behalf of the Ghana Police Service, ACP Sampson Abgeko expressed profound gratitude to the Member of Parliament for the support. He described the donation as timely and impactful, noting that the command has been facing logistical constraints that limit their operations.
He explained that the new Nissan Navara will play a critical role in enhancing police work, including routine patrols, rapid response to distress calls, escort duties, crime prevention operations, and community engagement activities. He added that improved mobility will enable officers to reach remote communities more efficiently, thereby extending security coverage across the constituency.
ACP Abgeko assured the MP, traditional leaders, and residents that the vehicle would be used strictly for official duties and maintained properly to ensure its longevity. He reaffirmed the commitment of the Ghana Police Service to upholding law and order, protecting citizens, and working closely with the community to prevent crime.
Some residents who attended the ceremony expressed appreciation to the MP for the initiative, describing it as a significant boost to local security. They noted that increased police visibility and quicker response times would help deter criminal activities and create a safer environment for businesses and daily life.
Community members also called for continuous collaboration between the police and the public, emphasizing the importance of information sharing and trust in fighting crime effectively.
The donation marks yet another milestone in Hon. Bright Asamoah Brefo’s development agenda for the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Constituency. Over the years, he has championed several initiatives aimed at improving infrastructure, education, health, and security.
As the constituency continues to grow, stakeholders believe that such interventions will play a crucial role in maintaining peace and supporting sustainable development. The provision of the pickup vehicle is therefore seen not only as a fulfillment of a promise but also as a strategic investment in the safety and future of the people.
