Amenfi Central MP Calls on Contractors, Investors and Businesses to Consider Constituency for Government Projects

Amenfi Central Member of Parliament, Hon. Joana Gyan Cudjoe, has issued a public appeal to contractors, investors, developers, financial institutions and businesses to consider the constituency when seeking government projects and investment opportunities.

The MP said Amenfi Central has significant development needs across sectors including roads, education, healthcare, electricity, telecommunications, water and sanitation, agriculture, housing, markets and financial services.

According to her, the appeal is not intended to bypass Ghana’s procurement laws or established government procedures, but rather to encourage credible companies to identify development needs in the constituency and submit appropriate proposals to the relevant government institutions.

411.5 Kilometres of Road Projects Identified

One of the major areas highlighted by the MP is road infrastructure.

She said 38 priority road projects covering approximately 411.5 kilometres have been identified across Amenfi Central.

Among the projects are the Humgebire (Gate)-Juabo-Wuraterm-Wassa Akropong road, Wuraterm-Ankasie-Agona Amenfi road, Pensanom-Obeng-Anakum-Amuni-Dwirigum-Fuleso road, Agona Amenfi-Agona Camp-Amoada road and several other feeder and community roads.

She is therefore urging road contractors working with the Ministry of Roads and Highways, Ghana Highway Authority, Department of Feeder Roads and other relevant institutions to consider the identified road projects when submitting proposals or participating in appropriate procurement processes.

Education and Health Infrastructure

The MP also identified education as another critical area requiring investment.

She said there are opportunities for the construction and expansion of KG, primary, JHS and SHS facilities, dormitories, dining halls, kitchens, assembly halls, science and ICT laboratories, libraries, teachers' accommodation, TVET facilities and other training institutions.

In the health sector, she called for consideration of projects including CHPS compounds, health centres, hospitals, maternity units, laboratories, emergency facilities and accommodation for health professionals.

Electricity and Telecommunications

Hon. Joana Gyan Cudjoe further appealed to companies and government institutions involved in electricity distribution and rural electrification to consider the constituency.

She said about 40 communities have been identified as requiring electricity-related interventions, including grid extensions, transformers, distribution networks, connections and renewable-energy solutions.

She also disclosed that 47 locations have been identified as requiring telecommunications and network improvements.

She called on telecommunications companies, tower companies, internet service providers and technology firms to explore opportunities for network expansion, 4G coverage, community ICT centres and digital-learning facilities.

Water, Agriculture and Commercial Development

The MP also identified water and sanitation as areas requiring attention, including boreholes, mechanised water systems, school and health-facility water, public toilets, drainage and waste-management facilities.

She said Amenfi Central's agricultural potential also presents opportunities for investors in farm infrastructure, warehouses, agro-processing, irrigation, mechanisation, cold storage and other agricultural businesses.

She further encouraged developers to consider modern markets, commercial centres, warehouses, affordable housing, workers' accommodation, student hostels, hotels and mixed-use developments.

Call for More Financial Institutions

Hon. Cudjoe also appealed to banks and financial institutions to strengthen their presence in Amenfi Central by establishing branches, agencies or service points.

She said improved access to financial services would support farmers, traders, contractors, small businesses, women entrepreneurs, youth businesses and investors operating within the constituency.

Appeal to Credible Contractors

The MP stressed that her appeal is open to credible Ghanaian, African and international companies with the financial capacity, technical expertise, equipment and qualified personnel to execute projects.

She emphasised that companies do not need personal connections to her office to consider projects in Amenfi Central.

“You do not have to know me personally. You do not have to have met me before. If you have the capacity to build, we want you to build in Amenfi Central.”

She urged contractors seeking government projects to ask the relevant Ministries, Departments and Agencies about eligible projects that can be undertaken in the constituency and to participate through the appropriate procurement and contracting procedures.

Hon. Cudjoe said Amenfi Central should not only be viewed as a constituency with development challenges but also as an area with significant investment and business opportunities.

She concluded by reiterating her commitment to attracting development to the constituency and encouraged credible businesses and investors to consider Amenfi Central whenever they are looking for suitable projects and investment opportunities.

“Amenfi Central is open for development,” she said.
