Man Remanded In To Police Custody For Defiling Underage At Sefwi Bekwai
The 21-year-old man, who was arrested by the police for allegedly defiling a 12-year-old girl, has been remanded into police custody by the Bibiani Circuit Court Judge His Honour Joshua Celeb Abaidoo.
The suspect,Moses Nsiah, unemployed, is a native of Sefwi Bekwai.
He has been charged with defiling a female under the age of 16, which is contrary to section 101(2) of the criminal offence Act 1960 (Act 29) as amended by section 11 of the criminal code ,At 1998/Act 554.
Detective Chief Inspector Alfred Amoah told the Court that the complainant Madam Abigail Antwi, her 12- years old daughter who school at Sefwi Atwima D.C Junior High School form 2 lives at Sefwi Bekwai.
On 17/11/2023 about 3:00 pm accused met victim at a friend’s mobile phone shop and accomplishment her beauty.
Same day, about 7:00pm victim went to town to deliver a bracelet to someone. While returning home,it started raining victim sought refuge in a certain house which happened to be the house of the accused. Accused, then met the victim and since they had met each other earlier in the day,he invited her into his room. victim refused, but the accused held her arms and dragged her to the room. He undressed the victim and forcibly had sexual intercourse with her.
He said accused then send victim out of his room about 9:00pm after the ordeal.The victim who was not happy about the incident, could not go home and spent the night in a tricycle known as pragia which had been packed in front of the house
Added that about 3:00am on 18/11/2023 she went to Sefwi Bekwai police station and informed them what happened to her. Police invited the complainant to the station, and a report was made. Medical report form issued on behalf of the victim returned duly endorsed by a medical offer of Sefwi Bekwai Green Shield hospital. Accused was later arrested,he admitted the offence in his caution statement and after investigations he was charged with the offence and put before his honorable Court.
The judge,His Honour Joshua Celeb Abaidoo, remanded him into police custody to reappear on December 5 for trials.
