The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Sefwi Wiawso, Hon. Dominic Gyasi, has commended his predecessor for initiating the construction of a bypass at Sefwi Dwinase, a project aimed at addressing persistent traffic congestion in the area.

According to Hon. Gyasi, the Sefwi Dwinase stretch has become a major bottleneck for motorists travelling through the municipality, particularly during market days and festive seasons when heavy vehicular traffic often results in long delays and disrupts economic activities.

Speaking to the media during an inspection of the ongoing project, the MCE explained that although the initiative was originally conceived as a bypass, the scale and quality of work being undertaken go beyond the construction of an alternative route.

He described the project as a significant road infrastructure development that would improve traffic flow, enhance road safety and open up the surrounding communities for further development.

Hon. Gyasi noted that the road was being constructed with attention to important features such as proper drainage, road widening and durable surfacing to ensure its long-term usefulness.

He expressed optimism that the completion of the project would significantly reduce congestion around the Sefwi Dwinase area and the municipality's central business district, while improving transportation for motorists, traders and other road users.

The MCE further emphasised the importance of continuity in governance, assuring residents that his administration would remain committed to completing ongoing projects initiated by his predecessors.

He stressed that development should not be limited by political differences, adding that projects that serve the public interest deserve the support of successive administrations.

Hon. Gyasi maintained that his administration would continue to prioritise infrastructure development and other initiatives capable of improving the living conditions of residents in the municipality.

The Sefwi Dwinase bypass is expected to play an important role in easing traffic congestion and improving the movement of people and goods when completed.
