Sand Winners in Bibiani Municipality Reach Agreement with Community to Operate Responsibly

Sand winners in Basengele, Lineso, and Obuasekrom have reached a mutual agreement with community leaders and residents to continue their operations responsibly, avoiding damage to farmlands, properties, and essential infrastructure.

According to Barima Osuaye Oman Ackah Payin II the chief of Sefwi Pataboso who doubles as the Ahwiaso Omanhene Abusuapanin agreed agreement will enable sand winners to carry out their activities smoothly. The Odikro of Basengele, Nana Atto Ware, noted that the community had suffered damage to their roads due to sand winning activities in the past. He emphasized the importance of adhering to the agreement to ensure the continuation of sand winning operations.

Mr. Frank Boakye, Chairman of the Sand Winners Association, assured the community of their commitment to operate responsibly, restore affected areas, and comply with regulations from the Municipal Assembly and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

Assembly members for the communities involved urged the sand winners to prioritize safety, protect water bodies, and respect the rights of landowners to avoid conflicts. The agreement marks a step towards sustainable sand winning practices in the area.
