Ramadan Reflections: Bibiani MCE Calls for Spiritual Support for President Mahama and Government

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai, Hon. Sebastian Obeng, has urged the Muslim community to dedicate part of their Ramadan prayers to the President of the Republic, John Dramani Mahama, and his appointees as they continue to steer the affairs of the nation.

In a goodwill message to mark the commencement of the holy month, Hon. Obeng emphasized the spiritual importance of Ramadan, describing it as a sacred period of reflection, sacrifice, discipline, and renewed devotion to faith. He noted that beyond fasting, Ramadan serves as a powerful moment for believers to intercede for their families, communities, and the nation at large.

According to the MCE, leadership carries immense responsibility and complex challenges, making it essential for citizens—particularly people of faith—to offer continuous prayers and moral support to national leaders. He stressed that effective governance requires wisdom, patience, integrity, and divine guidance. He therefore encouraged Muslims to pray for Allah’s direction, strength, and good health for the President and his team as they work to advance the country’s development agenda.

Hon. Obeng further highlighted that national development is a shared responsibility. While government continues to roll out policies and programmes aimed at improving the socio-economic well-being of Ghanaians, he said sustainable progress also depends on peace, unity, and collective commitment from the citizenry.

Touching on local harmony, the MCE commended the longstanding peaceful coexistence among the various religious and ethnic groups within the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Municipality. He urged residents to preserve and strengthen this unity, especially during the holy month, by embracing forgiveness, generosity, compassion, and tolerance—core values of Ramadan.

He also encouraged the youth to use the period to cultivate discipline, self-control, and a strong sense of responsibility, noting that such virtues are essential for personal growth and community transformation.

Hon. Obeng concluded by extending his warm wishes to Muslims in the municipality and across Ghana for a peaceful and spiritually fulfilling Ramadan. He expressed hope that the sacred season would usher in blessings, renewed hope, and prosperity for every household and for the nation as a whole.

Ramadan is observed by Muslims worldwide as a sacred month of fasting from dawn to sunset, intensified prayers, charity, and devotion to Allah. It is regarded as one of the Five Pillars of Islam and a time for strengthening one’s relationship with God and fellow humanity.
