To enhance the quality of teaching and learning in the Technical Education, governing Ghana, led by president Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo, has printed 1.2 million text books for TVET Schools.

Speaking to media on Monday April, 29 to update the people of Ghana on the ongoing transmission within the TVET sector, Dr. Fred Kyei Asamoah, Director General of CTVET said the Commission has embraced Competency-Based Training (CBT) as the mode of delivery to enhance the quality of teaching and learning.

As part of this initiative, we standardized all existing curricula, and we trained over 8,000 TVET instructors in the CBT approach.

He said CBT is an outcome-oriented approach to education and training, aligning learners’ education with industry standards.

To adhere to international best practices, CBT curricula, assessment tools, and learning materials are developed with input from industry experts, academia, and relevant stakeholders. This approach prioritizes individual learner competence over group performance, with each learner deemed proficient upon meeting the established standards.

To him, upon review and completion, there is approval by the Sector Skills Committee (SSC) of the Commission.recommendations are forwarded to the Board for final approval.

The current Competency-Based Training (CBT) curriculum development addresses skills gaps with the support of sector skills bodies. The Commission’s approach to curriculum development involves reaching out to industries through their Sector Skills Bodies for tasks.

According to him, the government has completed construing a brand-new state-of-the-art TVET centre of excellence at Anyinam and Pakyi No. 2 in the Eastern in the Ashanti Region. Two additional ones are also nearing completion at Akumadan in the Ashanti Region and Assin Jakis in the Central Region of Ghana.
