The Bibiani Government Hospital has received a major facelift following the comprehensive renovation of its mortuary facility by Ashanti Gold Bibiani Limited and PW Mining International.
Speaking at a brief commissioning ceremony, Ing. Samuel Kwesi Takyi, General Manager of Ashante Gold Bibiani Limited, stated that the initiative forms part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts aimed at improving healthcare infrastructure and enhancing community well-being within its operational area.
The renovation, which was officially handed over to the hospital management on Tuesday, October 7, includes the refurbishment of the mortuary building, replacement of outdated equipment, installation of modern refrigeration systems, and general improvements to sanitation and safety standards.
Ing. Paul Convery, Project Manager of PW Mining International, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to supporting the Bibiani community through sustainable development initiatives. “We believe that good health infrastructure is fundamental to community growth,” he said.
On his part, Lawyer Emmanuel Aidoo, Sustainability Manager of Ashanti Gold Bibiani Limited, emphasized that the project represents the company’s contribution towards ensuring dignity and efficiency in the hospital’s health service delivery.
He noted that the renovation has significantly improved the working environment for staff and provided a more dignified space for families of the deceased.
The renovated mortuary facility is expected to enhance the hospital’s capacity to manage and preserve bodies more effectively while maintaining high hygienic standards.
Representing Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II, Omanhene of the Anhwiaso Traditional Area, Nana Anaafi Ababio II, Krontihene of Sefwi Anhwiaso, lauded Ashanti Gold Bibiani Limited for the gesture. He described it as a demonstration of the company’s dedication to the welfare of the people of Bibiani and its environs.
He also advised the hospital management to cultivate a maintenance culture to ensure the facility lasts longer.
The Medical Superintendent of Bibiani Government Hospital, Dr. Akwasi Adu-Gyamfi, expressed profound gratitude to the mining companies for their timely intervention. He also called on natives of Bibiani living elsewhere to emulate the example of Ashanti Gold Bibiani Limited and support the hospital in various ways.
Dr. Adu-Gyamfi assured that management will uphold a strong maintenance culture to preserve the facility’s condition for years to come.
