The Anti-Fraud Initiative Ghana (AFIG), a leading civil society organisation championing transparency and accountability, has represented Ghana at the 11th Session of the Conference of States Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption (CoSP11), held in Doha, Qatar.
The global conference, held under the theme “Shaping Tomorrow’s Integrity,” brought together heads of state, senior government officials, international organisations and civil society actors to assess progress made under the UN Convention against Corruption (UNCAC) and to strengthen international cooperation in the fight against corruption.

Ghana’s delegation to the conference was led by the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, and included the Deputy Chief of Staff, Nana Oye Bampoe Addo; the Chief Justice, His Lordship Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie; the Deputy Attorney-General, Dr. Justice Srem-Sai; Ghana’s Ambassador to the United Nations in Vienna, H.E. Matilda Aku Alomatu Osei-Agyeman; the Special Prosecutor; and Members of Parliament.
Addressing participants at the conference, the Speaker reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to combating corruption and emphasised the country’s readiness to collaborate with the United Nations, development partners and other state parties to strengthen transparency, accountability and good governance.
Civil society participation
AFIG’s participation at CoSP11 underscored the critical role of civil society organisations in complementing state-led anti-corruption efforts. The organisation was represented by Mr. Isaac Ofori, Director of Research and Policy, and Mr. Michael Nkoah Asiedu, Programmes and Partnerships Manager, with the support of the President of AFIG, Mr. Isaac Obour.
The representatives engaged in discussions on policy reforms, institutional strengthening and the promotion of citizen participation in anti-corruption initiatives, particularly within developing democracies such as Ghana.
AFIG joined several international civil society organisations at the conference, including Transparency International, highlighting the importance of grassroots advocacy and global partnerships in the fight against corruption.
Milestone participation
As an invited organisation under the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC) framework, AFIG’s presence at CoSP11 marked a significant milestone in its advocacy work and reflects Ghana’s growing civil society footprint on the global anti-corruption platform.
The organisation reiterated its commitment to working with government institutions, development partners and local communities to prevent, detect and combat corruption across all sectors of the economy.
With sustained collaboration between public institutions and civil society, Ghana continues to strengthen its position in promoting integrity, accountability and the rule of law at both national and international levels.
