Okaikwei North MP Intensifies Obaanaa Breast Cancer Awareness and Health Screenings

The Member of Parliament for Okaikwei North Constituency, Hon. Theresa Lardi Awuni, has continued the Obaanaa Breast Cancer Awareness and Health Screening initiative across communities within the constituency.

Speaking to the media at Christian Village, she expressed heartfelt gratitude to God, the Municipal Health Director, and the dedicated nurses supporting the exercise. She described their commitment as a significant contribution to the wellbeing of residents.

Hon. Theresa Lardi Awuni explained that the health outreach program has already covered Nii Boi Town, Akweteyman, Alogboshie, Achimota Market, and Kopevi. She noted that the next screening will take place at Lapaz New Market on Wednesday. She emphasized that her priority is the health of constituents, and many beneficiaries have been referred to medical facilities for further treatment after early detection of health issues.

She stated that her faith reminds her that leadership is a service that requires caring about the health and safety of the people. The initiative began in 2020, and she said she is excited and encouraged by the strong community participation. According to her, early diagnosis is a blessing because it helps individuals protect themselves and adopt healthier lifestyles.

Hon. Awuni shared a touching experience, recalling how she supported some children through their parents only to later learn that one of the parents passed away from high blood pressure. She stressed that a simple screening could have helped prevent such a tragedy.

She urged all residents to take advantage of the free screenings. She clarified that the program is not motivated by elections or wealth but driven by the value of life.

“Life is our first priority. When you have life, you have everything,” she added.
