LAWYER STEPHEN KINGSLEY BENNIE SAYS HE WILL WAIT FOR THE RIGHT TIME TO DECIDE ON FUTURE NDC PARLIAMENTARY BID

BIBIANI, WESTERN NORTH REGION — Two-time Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Constituency NDC parliamentary aspirant, Lawyer Stephen Kingsley Bennie, says he will focus on his current responsibilities and wait for the appropriate time before deciding whether to contest the party’s parliamentary primaries again.

The Deputy Managing Director of Ghana Post Company Limited, Lawyer Bennie made the remarks during an interaction with the media after donating prayer mats and an undisclosed amount of money to members of the Muslim community at Adeankye, a suburb of Bibiani in the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Municipality.

‘I Will Wait for the Appropriate Time’

According to Lawyer Bennie, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has completed its branch-level elections and is now preparing for the next stage of its internal reorganisation, including the constituency executive elections.

He said with President John Dramani Mahama entrusting him with responsibilities in government, his immediate priority is to concentrate on delivering on those responsibilities.

Lawyer Bennie explained that he would therefore wait until the appropriate time before making any decision regarding another attempt at the NDC parliamentary primaries in the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Constituency.

He stressed that if he eventually decides to contest the parliamentary primaries again, he would officially inform the media and the public.

‘Mahama’s Resetting Agenda Is a Communal Labour’

The former Western North Regional NDC Research Officer also described President John Dramani Mahama’s Resetting Ghana Agenda as a collective effort that requires the contribution of all Ghanaians.

He said the agenda should not be seen as the responsibility of the President alone, but rather as a communal effort requiring commitment and support from members of the NDC and Ghanaians in general.

Lawyer Bennie, who is also a member of the NDC Legal Team, expressed confidence in the party’s prospects in the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Constituency.

‘Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Seat Has Come to Stay for NDC’

Lawyer Bennie declared that the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai parliamentary seat has now become an NDC seat and expressed confidence that the party would retain it.

He said the party would work to consolidate its position in the constituency and ensure that it does not lose the seat in future elections.

His comments come as the NDC continues its internal restructuring and preparations for the next phase of its organisational activities.

Commends Branch Elections Committee

Lawyer Bennie also congratulated members of the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Constituency NDC Branch Elections Committee for what he described as a successful conduct of the branch-level elections.

He extended his congratulations to candidates who emerged victorious and urged them to work in the interest of the party and its grassroots.

He also appealed to candidates who were unsuccessful not to abandon the party or seek political alternatives because of their defeat.

According to him, internal elections should not create divisions among party members, stressing the need for unity and inclusiveness.

Calls for Unity and Inclusiveness

The two-time parliamentary aspirant urged all NDC members in the constituency to put their differences aside and work together to strengthen the party at the grassroots.

He said the success of the NDC would depend largely on unity, cooperation and the ability of party members to accommodate different opinions and interests.

Lawyer Bennie called on both winners and losers of the internal elections to remain committed to the party and support its organisational structures.

He maintained that the party's focus should be on building a united and inclusive organisation capable of delivering on its promises to Ghanaians.

The remarks formed part of Lawyer Bennie's engagement with the media following his support for the Adeankye Muslim community, where he donated prayer mats and an undisclosed amount of money to assist the community.
