As part of the National Road Safety Authority (NRSA) Easter festive stay Alive campaign at sefwi wiawso in the Western North regional capital, has today 26 March, 2024 collaborated with three other emergency services, Ghana National Fire Service, Ghana Ambulance service and Motor, Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) to show their Preparedness to respond and rescued victims in case of an emergency road crashes in the region.

At a pre - and post crashes, joint demonstration exercise that lasted for 32 minutes brought in all the emergency services within the regional capital to show their readiness to any road crash cases. 

Demonstrate which a taxi with two passengers on board collided with a tipper truck on the main road and two people on motorbike crashed with a taxi which had already been involved in the head on collision. 

Meanwhile, the Ghana National Fire rushed to the scene with fire tender to prevent the accident vehicles from catching fire while they rescued the trapped victims from a damaged taxi.

The MTTD of the Ghana Police service reported to the accident scene to protect lives and properties belonging to the accident victims.

After 10 minutes, calls to the Ghana Ambulance service rushed to the scene with an ambulance van to rescue the injured victims to the nearby hospital for further treatment. 

Speak to the Western North Regional Acting Head of National Road Safety Authority (NRSA), Oheneba Kwame Acheampong, disclosed in an interview that the exercise was pre- and post crashes to see the readiness of all the emergency services in case there’s an emergency road crashes within the region on how and when they would respond and rescued the affected victims. 

Oheneba Kwamé Acheampong said sefwi Wiawso Dwenase being the commercial town in the regional capitalize and has become busiest town with an increase of human and vehicular traffic with a single lane road that links other districts and towns.

He added that the reason behind the exercise was to know the exact time that all the emergency services would respond and report to the rescues in case road crashes occur.

On the other side,station officer 2 of the sefwi Wiawso Ghana National fire Service, DO2 Joseph Amihere explained to the media that the exercises was to show the emergency preparedness in case of crash out. 

He said, the sefwi Wiawso- Dwenase was in a municipal status and with creating the six regions in the country including sefwi Wiawso has resulted to different people trooping in and the there’s a need to demonstrate to the public on their readiness to combat fire and rescue people in case of accident.

He advised the public to be very careful when using fire at their various homes during this Easter festive.
