A two-day sponsored program by Member of Parliament for Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai, Alfred Obeng Boateng saw 50 unlicensed Pragia riders trained, regularized and issued with their licenses under his subsidised Licensing Project.
It is was a joyful moment when the team from the Sefwi Wiawso DVLA arrived at Sefwi Bekwai for the second phase of the free license project in the history of the constituency.
Applicants were taken through due process, such as training and testing as prescribed by law, with successful ones issued with their respective licenses.
Addressing beneficiaries, Hon. Paul Andoh, the MCE on behalf of the MP, assured the Pragia riders of the MP’s support and commitment to help develop the constituency.
He stated that the third phase will be at Subri-Nkwanta to reduce the deficit of unlicensed riders in the constituency.
He said, “Our hardworking MP’s vision is to ensure that constituents who are into ridding business are duly licensed through his subsidy program. As a Member of Parliament, he value human empowerment and development. He considers this subsidy support to be a scholarship for them.”
“I strongly believe that if our hardworking MP supports students pursuing formal education with scholarships to study without worries, it is equally important to support riders who operate informal businesses to obtain their license.”
He therefore appealed to the beneficiaries to remember Dr Alhaji Mahamudu Mawumia, the Presidential for the New Patriotic Party and Hon Alfred Obeng-Boateng, the Parliamentary Candidate for the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Constituency during the December 7 general election.
The Western North Regional Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) Manager Mr Mawuli Dudi emphasized the significance of being aware of the expiration date of a driving license and the essential information regarding its renewal.
He stated: “In the event that you are aware that your license is nearing expiration, or if there have been changes to your personal information, it is essential that you update your license.”
He stated that motorists and riders possess a legal obligation to possess the correct license, as well as fulfilling the minimum driving range and minimum eyesight requirements.
The majority of the riders who had the opportunity to speak to the media said they are very happy with this initiative by the MP as it has cut down the cost of traveling to Sefwi Wiawso the regional capital for licensing services, and it’s the first of it kind Any Member of parliament is doing such exercise for them.
They therefore promise their readiness to support the NPP government to win the upcoming general election.
