B/A/B : Alfred Obeng Boateng cuts-sod for a FIFA standard AstroTurf at Sefwi Bekwai

Mr Alfred Obeng Boateng, the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Constituency, joined forces with Hon. Paul Andoh, the Municipal Chief Executive, to kick-start construing a FIFA standard astroturf and accompanying facilities at Sefwi Bekwai Omanhene’s Park in the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Constituency of the Western North Region.

The project, set to be completed within six months, will feature a standard football pitch, a 500-seat stand, a VIP seating area, a changing room, and a floodlighting system.

Obeng Construction Company Limited has been entrusted with the responsibility of the construction.

Mr Alfred Obeng Boateng reiterated signifying the facility for the community, emphasising its timely arrival as an avenue to enhance and showcase football talent within the municipality. 

He also highlighted the remarkable achievement of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government in sports development, noting that before 2017, the entire country had only two astroturf owned by individuals.

However, the current administration has constructed 128 pitches of this calibre nationwide, marking a significant milestone in sports in Africa.

During the sod-cutting ceremony, the MP expressed prizing the project and acknowledged the persistent calls from the Overland of the Sefwi Bekwai for such a facility.

He affirmed that the wait had been worthwhile, as the project had surpassed many others already constructed, making it exceptional.

In response, the MCE expressed deep gratitude to the MP for heeding the Assembly’s call to start a project of this nature.

He added that similar facility is under construction at Sefwi Anhwiaso by lobby my Ogyaahoho Yaw Gyebi II, the National House of Chiefs president and Bibiani too yet to bed begin also lobby by the MP and playing that Chirano too will get one soon and further expand the scope for discovering talented individuals.

Oyeadee Yie Basape Kwadjo Armah III, the Paramount Chief for the Sefwi Bekwai Traditional Council , who chaired the occasion, conveyed their immense gratitude to the MP, MCE, and the government for bestowing such a vital project upon the municipality.

He recognised its significance in unearthing football talents and expressed his appreciation for the opportunity it would provide to the community.
